Girona tours from Barcelona: which to pick

Pick the Girona and Dalí Museum coach day for the best price with museum entry. Girona is one of the best day trips from Barcelona, and it is easy on your own too.

Pick the small-group trip with pickup if you want the coast as well.

Tickets: Girona from Barcelona by train

The fast train from Sants takes about 40 minutes and runs about every hour. A regional train takes about 1 h 10, with fares reported at €6–10. The first fast train on Renfe’s page leaves Sants at 06:55.

That is the Barcelona Girona train in short. Once there, the Girona walking tour gives you a guide for 2.5 hours.

Heading further north? There is no Barcelona Andorra train that we found: the route to Andorra is a bus of about 2 h 45 to 3 hours.

A Barcelona to Costa Brava tour: coves, beaches and villages

For the coast, a tour is easier than the bus. The bus to Tossa de Mar reaches one town in about 1 h 20. A tour takes you to several places in one day.

The small-group tour stops at the beach in Calella de Palafrugell. The Cadaqués tour gives you time to swim.

For a beach that needs no tour, the Sitges to Barcelona train takes about 37 minutes. Only want Montserrat? See our Montserrat day trip from Barcelona.

One day trip to Costa Brava from Barcelona: how much time you get

These days are long: 10 to 11.5 hours. A lot of that is on the road. The three-place tour fits Montserrat, Girona and a coast village into 11.5 hours, so each stop is short.

Dalí Museum tours from Barcelona

The Dalí Theatre-Museum is in Figueres. Three tours include it: the Girona and Dalí coach day, the Dalí house tour, and the Cadaqués tour if you pick the museum option.

Tours from Barcelona to Figueres: what’s included

The coach day includes fast-track entry and an orientation tour. The Dalí house tour includes the museum, but Dalí’s house costs about €15 more. Check the option before you pay.

Dalí Museum tickets from Barcelona, or at the door

If you take the train, buy a ticket ahead. One guide reports prices from €18.50 online, and free entry for children under 9. Our ticket pick costs from €23 and cannot be refunded.

Hours are reported as 10:30 to 18:00, Tuesday to Sunday, in autumn and winter. The museum closes on Mondays outside July and August. In July and August it opens daily, 9:00 to 20:00. The regional train from Sants takes about 1 h 51.

Already on the coast: the Lloret de Mar to Tossa de Mar ferry

If you stay in Lloret de Mar, the ferry is an easy half day. The round trip takes about 4 hours. The ferry starts in Lloret de Mar, not in Barcelona.

A bus also runs from Lloret de Mar to Tossa de Mar. A single costs €2.80.

Tips before you book a Girona or Costa Brava tour

  1. Check what entry costs extra

On the Dalí house tour, Dalí’s house is about €15 extra, and Púbol Castle about €10. The Girona walk does not include entry fees.

  2. Read the group size

The Girona and Dalí day is called small group but takes up to 55. The Cadaqués tour takes up to 100. The pickup tour takes up to 8.

  3. If plans change

Seven picks have free cancellation. The Dalí Museum ticket cannot be refunded, and you must come at your booked time.

  4. Bring swimwear in summer

The small-group tour stops at a beach, and the Cadaqués tour gives you time to swim.

  5. Wear good shoes

Girona has lots of steps and slopes, the walking tour warns.
